Couple of things

1. I liked this movie, but I would have liked it more if Theo and Matthew also had a sexual relationship.

2. Was it only me, or was the behavior of the parents a mystery? They obviously knew Isabelle slept in Theo's room (nude at times), they seemed to have no issues finding Isa, Theo & Matt together nude sleeping together, they never even seemed to get irritated, even when Theo disrespected his father.

3. Kind of got tired with Matthew's goody-goody character. UGH ... I kind of wish we got a little backstory on his his family - apparently his father was angry with him, for going to France? We can only assume.

4. If Matthew was a virgin, he certainly "lasted" like a champ for his first time. LOL

All in all, I'm glad I watched it. I thought the best character was Isabelle, great acting for sure.

1. yeah i don't agree with the director's choice to leave out the homosexual aspect of theo and matthew's relationship... according to the trivia section bertolucci thought there was already too much going on to just include that... i did like how there was homoerotic tension throughout the film and then it was weirdly/violently expressed when theo starts to choke matthew when matthew critiques theo's supposed maoism.

2. parents were of the brand of the imo worst kind of far-left hands-off kind of parents it seemed... the type where they think they're being progressive by not setting appropriate boundaries or giving their children a healthy dose of reality. i was truly disgusted with the mother writing another check and just leaving them there w/o a good scolding for if anything just trashing the place and being totally idle.
