Things you admire about the franchise (other than the deaths)

I like the tone of the movies, and how everyone dies at the end (like in real life) no one gets to live for being a good person, or dies because they're an ass, they all die no matter what. In most of horror, we're not supposed to care about who dies, but at least the characters are authentically disposable.

I also like how absurd the reality of the deaths can be, which falls in line with the nihilistic and cynical tone of the movies, about how unfair and arbitrary life can be.

Let's not forget the irony, and subversive dark humor (Kat being killed by a safety device, Tim dying MINUTES after the dentist with Nora having wasted a good deal of money investing in his long term health with him no dead)

There's also a refreshing facelessness to the series, there are no real marketable protagonists and villains that you can buy as Halloween costumes. There is no in effect, "mascot" for the series, the closest thing that comes is that infamous bus.

and then theres the foreshadowing and symbolism

what do you like about it beyond the deaths

The special visual effects are special.

The acting is quite brilliant. Special mention goes to Bobby Campo in part 4.

The explosions are sweet.
