I just don't get why the Natascha.....

character didn't wait at least a few days to see if Clooney would come back...suicide the same night? Anyone would wait days of not weeks IMO.

Most underrated actress ever. Beautiful plus her voice ....

I agree, very much so....

Though not a fan in general, i agree. She emanates an ethereal and melancholy beauty in this movie.

I'm not sure why people are giving their opinions on her appearance in reply to your post, but I would point out that clinical depression and suicidal tendencies aren't rational. Sometimes all it takes is a trigger to set one off, and the fight they had was huge -- abortion and family and feelings of betrayal and pronouncements of not caring what happens to the other person? That's the sort of thing that can lead to impulsive self-destruction in the case of someone like her. Suicide is rarely a prolonged analysis of rational factors. Her world just came crashing down and she saw no other solution. To you and me, she acted foolishly. To her, she acted the only way she could see to escape the pain.

After reading your reply my post seems so simplistic. Obviously her character was suicidal. She spoke of her mother being certifiable also; so it may have been hereditary. It's impossible trying to see reason in a person who is psychologically abnormal. I just love the depth of a personality like Natasha's character. Shallow women bore me worse than I can tend to bore myself if that makes sense.

LOL. Perfect answer.

Are we sure he came back that night? I didn't think they gave a specific time, he may have been gone over night, or more, people's minds can start spinning all kinds of thoughts in that time.

reply

I just saw the movie.

As I recall he said he came back "right away," but somehow it seemed to me it was the next morning. I.e. after he cooled off and realized his love.

Maybe I think this because when they show him returning, it appears to be morning.

Anyway, I just accepted that her state of mind was off the chart... probable guilt for the abortion, too.
