According to this movie, Scott must get married in order to keep the role of Santa Claus.
This means every Santa before him has a wife and possibly even kids.
So what happened to the Mrs. Claus of the Santa Scott killed in the first movie? Does she fade out of existence just like her husband?
Do the elves forget about her or are they so used to this they don't think about it anymore?

I don't think Santa "died" per say, I think he disappeared and started a new life for himself. The idea of fate is explored in the movie, Scott Calvin becoming Santa Clause, so everything happens for a reason.
They didn't mourn Santa, so I think it just meant the Santa before is gone, but the guy who became him is alive somewhere.
I never thought about this, but I guess I just figured that when the last Santa decided to retire, that he told his wife and they made plans to start their new life together as mortals. And I'm sure they warned the elves and Bernard.

I'm sure there was a whole planning process involved with the previous Santa. He either decided he wanted to go ahead of time or had to go by rules and Bernard had time to figure it out.
I'm sure Mrs Claus and Kids had plenty of time to get prepped for it.
Maybe the previous Santa was a widower.
The kids are grown and gone.
The elves are union - so they don't care unless it affects their pay or job description...
I hate unions.

I never thought of a possible dark element to the story before. In other Santa movies I've seen Santa has to retire because of his age. I like the 'de-Santafication process' phrase. I've rated it 7/10.
shareI am just assuming that the previous Santa was another person just like Scott that happened upon Santa Claus on his roof and killed him. All Santa Clauses started out as another person. So the Mrs. Claus is the same way. So they go back to who they were and magically any kids they have go with them.
shareMaybe he was never married because no knew about the Mrs. Clause. When Scott was there was when they discovered it and decided to enforce it.
Most of the Elves had probably been there through several Santas It just like any other job, when you get a new boss. If you don't like them then you leave, otherwise continue doing your job, unless they decide to have you do something else.
