What a wonderful movie... :)

I find it quite interesting that the director took the movie into a different direction. I have only started reading the book and i found a lot of humor, interesting facts and more understanding on each one of the characters.
Not that i didn't enjoy the movie. But i did find it sad,a bit heartbroken for Cassandra. I have seen this movie so man times now, till the end, in my opinion i don't think the author 'wants' Simon to come back while Cassandra waits for him(???)
This movie touched me deeply because i felt Cassandra's growth/change and what 'love' had taught her.

Agreed...very affecting, and no "easy" resolution (She ends uip with Simon, she ends up with the odd job man). More like what happens in real life than in Movie-land.

Yep, altogether a great movie.

One of the best coming-of-age films I've seen. I think it's great that apart from Rose, no one really gets a "happy ending." I think everyone was still trying to figure out what they want, especially Cassandra. Had she ended up with either Stephen or Simon right then, I don't think she would have been too happy. The girl had to see more of the world before settling down. Same with Stephen.

I loved "The Painted Veil." Please do try to see it.
