Romola Garai

my god is she amazing! so beautiful and so talented!
especially that line "thats a wicked, wicked, WICKED thing to do..."
she's so fantastic.

Dawn: I gave birth to a pterodactyl.
Anya: Oh my god, did it sing!?

reply

i also like her delivery and facial expressions of that line, the disbelief and slight contempt of her sister's sudden change of behavior was well acted..

romola was ace in this movie:) as one critic said, the most perfect debut for an actress

reply

She's an incredible actress and her performance carried the movie.

Her acting is as good or better than many of the popular young actresses now being nominated for various acting awards.

I look forward to seeing her career bloom in future movies.

They downplayed her looks in the film, but she's really so beautiful that her looks sneak up on you. Garai in that simple blue dress at the dinner party was stunning compared to Byrne, who looked like a modern-day Marie Antoinette. I found her the much more attractive sister by the end of the movie, not to mention more interesting, intelligent and kind.

reply

I don't think she looked particularly beautiful in this film, but that was doubtless the intention. That hair-do! Awful! But I understand why they did it.

And yet she was still so winning on-screen. I think my favorite delivery of a line was "It was my *first* kiss."

reply

Regarding her hair style, or lack thereof. I would have taken her for being 13 or 14 rather than 17.

It seems they were striving for youthful innocence and lack of sophistication maybe to contrast her with her sister's pretentious "makeover" when she becomes engaged to a wealthy person.

reply

she was great in this movie, along with Rose Byrne. great performances
