"Your bird may have blinded the basilisk, but it can still hear you!"
Worst exposition line ever!
Although, "Of course! Phoenix tears have healing powers!" is not much better.

Uh oh spaghettios - Zack Snyder, David Goyer, Chris Terrio, Bryan Singer (2016)
Just watched it again. I thought the exact same thing its so bad
shareIn the book it was smell you, but considering it cornered Harry at the grate later on it wouldn't have made sense. So instead of making the scene more like the book they had to change how the snake was able to sense Harry.
shareRowling got a few things wrong about snake. In the first book, the snake winked at Harry, but snakes don't have eyelids. And snakes are deaf, so Parseltongue doesn't even make sense.
sharesnakes don't have eyelids but they can hear.
