Innocent

It's funny how Dumbledore says that Harry Ron and Hermione are innocent until proven guilty, which is an American thing, whereas in Britain's judiciary system they are guilty until proven innocent

reply

I believe you are incorrect. Several sources I checked say it is a basic tenet of British law that an accused is innocent until proven guilty.

And British Wizarding Law us different than regular British Law anyway.

So Wizarding Law us whatever the script says it is.

reply

True, but babycinderella was claiming regular British law enshrined guilty until proven innocent. My response was this is incorrect. Wizarding law could easily be different, as it seems to be for American wizards if Fantastic Beasts depiction is accurate.

I thought that the Napoleonic Code was the semi-modern system of law that held the accused is guilty until proven innocent.

And as you recall, the British didn't like Napoleon very much.

reply

You are correct. Neither Great Britain nor the US uses the Napoleonic system. (I'm sure other nations don't as well, but I don't have a handy list.)
