We need chris tucker...

I know his character smokey/smokie went into rehab and all in the next friday, but why did they never cast Chris Tucker (smokey) again for the sequels, he was the funniest mofo in the film! did he get too expensive or something?

I'm telling you if they are thinking of a sequel they'd better bring smokey back

because since the original, he stated that he won't do anymore movies about drugs. i think he found jesus or something. god damn jesus.

reply

then I guess he sort of forgot that while making dead presidents... he's a freakin' crackhead in the movie.

you might actually right. it says they were both in '95. and i personally don't remember which came out first that year. 'though it doesn't really matter. friday's the one that made him famous, and from what i hear at some point after getting famous, he claimed he wouldn't do anymore drug related roles, because of new found religion or some sh*t.

reply

religion... the root of all evil. sorry for all the religious people, but I think about a lot of wars that have happened throughout human history. and now a group of extreme muslims with their jihad (holy war). and religion took our Smokey...

Yeah, I'd say his presence is definatley missed, so are DJ Pooh's and F. Gary Gray's. The first Friday pretty much stands on it's own, but Friday After Next did grow on me. Didn't like Next Friday (only a couple funny scenes imo).

reply

I didn't really like Next Friday much either, but Mike Epps had his moments. Again, Mike Epps has his moments in Friday After Next, but he's no Chris Tucker. I liked how they brought back the mom for the 3rd film. Little things like bringing back original cast members definately makes a sequel that much better.

The first one kinda stands out on it's own as something bigger then the rest, and had the dramatic moments like the dad's speach about not using the gun. It reminds of House Party in terms of all black casting films. But Friday's sequels and House Party 3 all have ditched this formula and can be shelved away with I've Got the Hook Up, Belly and lots of other films of the nature that half the time go direct-to-video and star rap stars.

Just visiting him in jail for possesion or something for a 2 minute cameo would be awesome though, even if it didn't include any drug references in the scene.

Aside from Chris Tucker, there was a lot of funny stuff with the crackhead guy in the first film. And like mentioned before, it was better with the dramatic stuff included (which worked there, but wouldn't have in the other films as they stand) as it came off somewhat like more of a comedic take on movies like Boyz in the Hood.

other than smokey, day-day is the funiest. i do nt think this movie was all that bad, but it would be tight if smokey was back in it. dont get mad at religion. if he wants to go to heaven then thats his choice.

reply

It's more just about having continuity in your sequels, and the lack of one the main characters in the sequels. And speaking of House Party 3, it actually has more in common, as with that film, it lacked Martin Lawrence, and they tried to replace him with David "Is he not the guy everyone hates from The Real World?" Edwards to no avail. Although, Bernie Mac certainley saved that movie everytime he appeared on screen. And ironically enough, while Lawrence was gone, Chris Tucker WAS in it. Kinda a weird coincidence there.

No more Smokey?

This proves, beyond all doubt, that religion is what's wron with the world today. I WANT THE SMOKE DOG BACK!

reply

while I really enjoyed chris tucker in the first friday, i think that friday after next definitely holds it's own. the first time i watched it i laughed, then i watched it over and over and over and each time i laughed harder. katt williams character money mike was hilarious!

reply

I dunno. Cube said he likes working with people that he doesnt really know 2 well, when hes doing the fridays, so I don't think Deboo will be coming back. And we don't need Chris Tucker. Yes, he was very funny in the first, but don't expect that if Chris Tucker were to come back, they could make a movie as excellent as the first. The first Friday was one of the greatest movies ever. The second 2 were just funny.

I like smokey but I dont miss him Day-Day is funny as hell and some of his lines couldnt have been pulled off by anyone else.

They said they would Fu<k for a buck, do something strange for a lil piece of change, and you know we gunna make em holla for a dolla!"

-Hilarious!

reply

I think that he should be back. He said he didnt want to do anymore drug related roles. And in the 2nd one at the end, it said he went to rehab because he smoked to much. Surely if he did come back he would be cured.

I think Mike Epps and Chris Tucker Combo would kick ass! SMOKEY!

reply

Mike Epps cracks me up more than Chris Tucker so I didn't miss him.
