Did any other males out there cry while watching this movie? Ive never really been so emotionally touched by a film to have actual tears streaming down my face, but this did it for me.
Ive seen alot of films i would say could potentially move people to tears, from shawshank redemption to old boy, but this, somehow was different.
Its too bad that alot of "westerners" will have missed this original masterpiece.
I am a Korean American guy who is a movie nut. I rarely watch Korean films since I am very Americanized.
Something about this movie. It's so strange. It makes me laugh, smile, sad, and cry every time I watch it. I showed it to my parents and my sister today on my birthday and my sister cried.
One of the best Korean movies I have ever seen in my life. These two actors have such a chemistry. Since I still understand Korean language I feel the dialog another level higher emotionally. Also being a Korean, I feel this movie even more.
Which parts of the movie that makes you cry? Of course the famous scene when the girl tells him to hike up the other side of the mountain and she yells at him across the mountain apologizing of all the rough stuff that she did to him.
Three years later after they broke up without going any further just staying as friends she visits the tree where she supposed to meet him a year ago(1 year late) finds an old local man who is resting under the tree. The old man tells her that he has a secret who tells her that a year ago the original tree got hit by lightening and died. And that nice guy planted a tree just like the original at the exact location. Wow, now that's touching!
And the ending. Out of all these years that they broke up and his aunt wanted to hook him up, and it's her! Wow! What an ending! This part makes me cry too :*)
I also touched when he pretends to be the noodle delivery man and runs into her school and delivers a rose in front of the crowd when she plays Pachelbel's Canon with the piano. How many guys out there in today's world to take punishment from a girl without going further. Just being a nice guy?
