most ridiculous moment?

This is arguably the most ridiculous-in-a-good-way movie I've ever seen. It's so over-the-top it's hard to pick the most ridiculous moment, but I'll try:

Turkish is hanging on for dear life on the moving truck's undercarriage and throws the tire iron in the face of Ric Young's driver. Made me laugh harder than any other scene.

reply

Same. But I also like when Frank tied up two of the henchmen with his sweater whilst fighting in the bus depot.

reply

come on the most ridiculous part was when he threw the girl in the air for the cop to catch her, don't the words "handle with care" mean anything to him???

Shawn- we were just taking pictures of their Skirts.
Eddie- this isn't for us its for a nun

reply

its called 'distraction'

I want to all men!

reply

the oil slick fight was so great.. jumping on the bike and snapping off the pedals (and they actually stayed on his feet) so that he could get a better grip in the oil... now that was IT for me. Loved it.

reply

well the most ridiculous moment would have been, if they had of put it in, frank deflecting a missile with a silver tray, but i really wish they would have put it in, i havent even seen it in the deleted bits, i just rememebr it from the ad from like 5 years ago.

reply

deflecting a missile with a silver tray? Come on.. they had their limits with ridiculousness. They wouldn't do something that crazy..

reply

it might have been ridiculous, but it would have been good for two reasons.

1- it just would have looked so great, really really great.

2- it would have tied the second one in with its highly over the top moments, between deflecting a missile and al the crap from the second one, i know which one is more believable.

and lets not forget the bit at the beginning where frank some how drives the car over the railing of a bridge, now with enough practice and training (and luck) you could probably deflect a missile, but making a car jump a like that, absolutly physically impossible.

ps dont get me wrong, i love the movie and have no prbs with the impossible. i just enjoy discussing them

reply

"frank deflecting a missile with a silver tray, but i really wish they would have put it in,"

Yeah man remember that from the trailer! Where was it, damn it!!!!

reply

Jason Statham asked that the scene where he deflects the missile with the silver tea tray be removed He didn't feel as thought the audience would buy that scene at all
It's listed in the trivia section of The Transporter on IMDB

reply

Yeah, as if out of the whole movie where he glides against the wind and lands perfectly on a tractor trailer speeding down on a freeway, or takes on a score of guys with just a sweater, or kicks the crap out of a group of greased thugs with bike pedals on his feet we'd single out the deflecting of a missile with a silver tea tray. By that logic they should've redone all of the movie's fight scenes, although I'm very glad they didn't. God, this movie's fun and it would've been nice if they kept that in. Huge Statham fan here but that is probably one of the dumbest things I've heard from him.

actually, the part where the guys are shooting missiles into his house, and Frank tries to get the ding-a-ling to jump into the water. She's standing there screaming/freaking out.. for a second there, i thought the CGI of fire was on him, but i guess it must have gone above him?

some days, it's not worth chewing through the restraints..

reply

The oil fight, by a mile.

reply

don't know why but for me the moment that did it was landing with the parachute on the truck. first shot they fly so low they can almost touch the truck, next shot the plane is high above the clouds. he jumps and lands on top of the moving truck. (don't think it's this moment in particular but just all those ridiculous moments combined)
i love over the top action movies but this is just a bit too much

I want it all! The terrifying lows, the dizzying highs, the creamy middles!

I believe there's a shot of him tightening the straps.

For me, the most ridiculous part was how the hell did the girl (Lai) tied down to an office chair, get into the back seat of the car AND close the door? Does someone tied down in a chair even fit in the back seat? And how does Frank not notice her when he walks around the car?? That, to me, is easily the most ridiculous thing in the movie. Even more so than a missile deflecting off a silver tray, because I think that just might (heavy, heavy emphasis on the might) be plausible. Well, more plausible that the girl getting into the car and closing the door behind her!!

reply

I know it's not a death defying stunt or anything, but when that french cop offers him the gun and says something like 'You'll need all the help you can get.' then he just pulls a massive machinegun out always made me laugh, cuz its like something out of a steven seagal movie. But definitely the best bit is when he knocks on the door, the guy looks through the keyhole, and sees Frank running at him, and he just fly kicks it down

Don't call my escorts whores

reply

For me it wasnt just a moment, it was the ongoing pain of Stathams American accent. cringe.

reply

I think maybe that bit where after the first 20 minutes where they build a semi-tight plot, and just at the point where Lai reveals the basis of her kidnapping *BAM*... *logic flies out window*
But seriously, i loved the exploding parachute - y'know the one which when it detaches from its user, and flies into oncoming traffic it automatically explodes???
Oh, and the Dad's head - WTF?!?

reply

The French cop letting Frank escape from jail and catch the shipment on his own. There were a lot of ridiculous moments in this movie, but this one has to take the cake. I mean this must be the way police work is done in France when they have a foreigner like Frank in one of their jails.

Whenever you see the name "Luc Besson" attached to a movie in any way, you can expect tons of completely unbelievable crap, but highly entertaining crap. Not unlike a cartoon. If you're going to be over the top, you might as well go waaaaay over the top, very comic-bookish and fun.

reply

Come oooon...obviously when he kissed the dead guy underwater!!!

reply

You know, I'm reading post after post and remembering how silly this movie was and thinking "yes! nobody said mine yet!" until the VERY last post someone got it. COME ON I can get past the bullets being blocked by the body, I enjoy freefalls into the water below, and I can even believe that he was strong enough to make the jump with the dead body right with him the whole time. But I just hated it when they show him lock lips with the dead guy to get more breathable air. That really isn't (and I genuinely know) possible. Besson should have just let us think that Stathams character, being ex-military and living on the water, could hold his breath that long. I would have believed that.

Also when he lands on the back of the truck and is able to stand on it with the parachute still attached, even if it's only a couple seconds, is rediculous.

Also, when he lands the car on the car-transport truck and unloads it with one shot of the gun. When cars are being carried on those things they are not just in there one way! They are also strapped in, I believe at the axles!

(I still had a lot of fun watching the film, despite all of that)

reply

This thread needs bumping as it made me laugh more than the film did.

And he wasn't getting air from the dead guy in the water, remember he had just stripped and greased up and after that fight was probably het up for a bit of man action. When the dead bloke didn't respond he gave up.

reply

Maybe not the most ridiculous scene, but still... When Statham and the chinese girl surprise Wall Street in his office: Statham holds Wall Street at gunpoint while Lai searches the files. Statham cocks the hammer for his gun, for dramatic effect. They exchange some bla blah bla, Statham then goes over to Lai, who can't find what she's looking for, cocks the hammer again. Lai then takes the gun, threatens to kill Wallstreet. For dramatic effect, she--again--cocks the hammer of the gun. Cocking the hammer of a gun is an established action movie cliché, but that's ad absurdum. Also, the climax, that "thrilling" truck sequence, was directly lifted from Indiana Jones, IMO. Only, instead of riding a horse, Statham parachuted onto a driving truck. Right.

reply

The 4 inch piece of 'reusable' duct tape that prevents Lai from talking is pretty remarkable.

Had to pause movie when I found this thread as the part that I found ridiculous sorta took down my attention meter ALOT.

Was thinking the same thing lol.

Yeah, wtf? right?

No one said mine but, w/e imo I really thought the film became epic mainstream when she offered to sleep with him to repay the damages. Gawsh I mean wtf does this say to all the females and even dudes out there?

HUh? Pus sy is some sort of currency?

Even though I know its being used that way,

(this is our society's root of evil >>>Pu ssy<<<)

which only affects the weak minded...just never mind about mine...sigh...forget it...

reply

most ridiculous moment? - imho between the 1st and the 92nd minutes... my mind went numb by the 32nd minute though :0

et tu Brute!

Locked my wire coat-hanger in the car - good thing that I always carry spare keys in my pocket :)

reply

Definitely the part between the opening credits and the end.

This doesn't have even a single barely plausible scene.

The Bourne stuff has scenes that are a major stretch, but almost do-able, but this movie consists of two hours of one-in-a-million shots.
