I consider myself to have an open mind but... god help us!!

he must have been pressured by his misses to make this garbage.

The movie is acutally quite good, considering that i really don't fancy Guy Ritchie's work. But on the other hand Madonna REALLY SUCKS. She was never much of an actress, but this is by far the worst acting she's ever done. Guy shoulda hired somebody else!

reply

The one thing I liked in the movie was the behind-the scenes stuff Madonna and Guy Ritchie did as a bonus feature on the DVD... sad whena making of documentary outshines the film it's about

And, in many ways, I actually prefer this film to the original on which it was based.

Madonna can act---in supporting roles. She was good in "A League of Their Own" but she just doesn't have.... uh.... whatever it is to carry a movie. The only time she's been good in the lead role was "Evita"---and, even there, the stage actresses who did it before her did it better. What worked there was the fact she is a pop culture icon... juts as the real Eva Peron had been

She delivers her lines as if she is reading them off the script. she just needs a director brave enough to tell her what she is doing wrong.

I like it alot, actually. Maybe I am biased, being a Madonna freak! IMHO, she is better in this movie than in most of hers. She seems more natural to me. It's a sad little movie though...by which I mean the ending. Definately not the worst Madonna film...everyone knows that the worst is The Next Best Thing!

reply

Not everyone. I thought her worst film and performance was easily "Shanghai Surprise". "The Next Best Thing" started off decent and got progressively worse as it went on. Madonna's performance wasn't bad, it was that film's script that was its undoing.

Love her work in "Evita" though.
