Madonna Not Convincing At All

I have a DVD called 'Tear Jerkers' that features a collection of romance films, including Swept Away. Knowing how bad it was reputed to be, I just had to check it out tonight and, sure enough, it wasn't Oscar worthy material. Madonna was OK playing the rich bitch, but her transformation into a devoted and humble lover on the island wasn't convincing at all. She couldn't emote much either in that cardboard performance.

The ending was also a despairing let down, heightening the disappointment of the film. I can see why it did so poorly at the box office. It's the type of movie where the audience will feel ripped off for paying so much to see it.
