The whole time travel thing in DOFP was a lame reboot/retcon, whatever you want to call it, of the series in my opinion. X2 was the best and most original of the series.

Its still my favorite of the series, with DOFP being a close second.

It's the best of the original trilogy for sure. For me, First Class edges ahead of it though. I loved the historical angle (and Kevin Bacon). X2 is indeed a brilliant superhero movie, however.
