Enough to pick up where movies left off?

I have seen dune and the mini series and COD a couple times each. From these I've developed a fondness for the story.

From what I've read it looks like alot of people think that the movies and miniseries, were faithful and unfaithful to the books. That being said I don't typically become an avid fan of things I really like, I tend to just want the story.

My question: is the original series + 2 mini series enough to pick up at god Emperor of Dune?

i would think so. God Emperor of Dune and Heretics of Dune are my favorite of the series, btw.

Maybe. The thing is that in almost any film adaptation, you never really get enough of the thoughts going through the characters' heads, some of which are kind of important as background information. There are other details, too, that just make so much more sense if you've read the books. On the other hand, God-Emperor of Dune picks up 3500 approximately years after Children of Dune ends, and it takes a while to figure out what's going on even knowing everything that I knew from the books.

I'd start at the beginning - Dune.

There is so much more in the books that no film would be able to include. You'll get a much fuller experience.
