Yeah I was surprised too. I just watched this for a homework assignment and came on here and looked up the cast. Big age difference between her and Kiera Knightley.

How old is the actress that plays the mother. Every time I see this I'm positive she can't be much older than the actresses that play her children

She was born in 1975, she is ten years older than Keira although in this movie you could think that they are more or less the same age.
