I've been watching this show for the first time (on Netflix) and noticed that Dr. Cox went from having very thin hair in season 1 to having thick curly hair in season 2. What was that about? Did John C. McGinley start wearing a toupee, or did he shave his head (maybe for another role) before doing Scrubs and it just took that long to grow back?

I don't think it was ever "thin", just short. But yeah, I think it had been short for another role before/during the first season.

He never wore a toupee, just altered between shaved/growing it out. He always had a ridiculous hairline too which probably made it look thinner/balding when he was shaved
