The most annoying douchebag character of all time - Dr. Cox

Seriously, how can a character like him be funny?

-EVERY word out his mouth is an insult, and not in a funny friendly way, but mean and pointless.
-Him over pronouncing every fking word.
-Him over stretching every muscle in his face for every vowel.
-Inserting his stupid nose in every conversation, just to insult people, and insulting EVERYONE if you do the same.
-Cannot ask him a question because he will fking abuse you
-Even Dr Kelso is more funny, human than him.

I've skipped EVERY line of his in the first 3 seasons. Literally skipped. Fastforward my dvd every time I see his face. He is THAT annoying and douchey.

Is he the same for the upcoming seasons?

Totally agree. LOVE Dr. Cox, but I must have imagined a hundred ways for Carla to die, should have happened in the first couple of seasons, and Nurse Roberts shouldn't have been there at all.

reply

Second this - except the part about nurse roberts? kinda hard to dislike her... having said that, the carla character is pivitol to the plot, perhaps, bias aside, what we really need is her stubborn, nose-where-it-doesn't-belong-oppiniotated-poopyheadedness should just have been toned back a little.

I just didn't like all the jesus-this, jesus-that stuff Nurse Roberts churned out. More than half of the scenes she's in she makes a comment about God. If I worked at that hospital I would avoid her.

reply

Yeah, that's true; it's been a little while since I watched it I guess I kinda forgot about her preaching.

reply

I'm rewatching the series, and I thought the Nurse Roberts Jesus stuff was well done for comedic effect. I find her hilarious.

He mellows a bit after he has his son if that helps. If you need further proof just check out the episode My Cake.

Dr Cox is awesome. Great character.

reply

Those are all mannerisms which shape and differentiate his character and make Cox Cox.

He mellows out a bit in later seasons, but that stuff is always there.

reply

He is suppsed to be but I think people LOVE the kind of comedy Dr. Cox provides, he is like a General or one of those characters full of hate. But not as much and we see softer sides of him gradually. His jokes are in the highest form of sarcasm imaginable and that is very appreciated among comedy fans. Not just comedy fans, I mean he could give you ideas to be a funny douche in real life, you know. A looot of comedy writing goes behind ever line of his. Other sitcoms would love to have a character who bring this kind of humor to the table. He's a source of evil humor, he is just hilarious.

+1 Streets Behind - I also read it in Cox's voice: it scans really well.

Dr. Cox is possibly my favorite character on the show.

As for fast-forwarding, I zip through every scene involving Carla and Turk. It was fine the first time through the series, but now those scenes are unbearable.

reply

Why watch? You're missing the show.

reply

I've seen every episode in seasons 1-5 several times over. If I re-watch them now, I skip over the weak stuff.

I think Dr.Cox is one of the best TV characters of all time
