Which is the point I'm making. You don't know the name of the person.

Despite it saying "His sacrifice, and the sacrifice of all our men and women of the military, will never be forgotten."

Yet his name is forgotten and therefore his sacrifice is forgotten.

You do make a valid point though. Ever seen "Rescue Me"? It's about firefighters in NYC, after the 9/11 tragedy. In one scene, the main character is at a bar and loses it. He something along the lines of "I bet none of you can give me 1 name of someone who died that day, but you can list 5 contestants on American Idol last night".
