Why are they incapable of using good DVD cases!?!

Ok, the first few seasons of 24 were digipack garbage, but at least the discs were in perfect condition when you opened them. My season 5 and 6 slim pack sets both came with discs that were scuffed to hell. I replaced season 6 with one of the thin standard size case sets and got pristine discs. I just tried getting a replacement for season 5, and it ended up one of those inch thick clear cases and again, every disc had scuffs. WTF? It shouldn't be this hard to get pristine discs when buying brand new.

I have this: http://theawesomer.com/photos/2010/12/120910_24_complete_series_t.jpg (as well as the LAD blu-ray) and have always found them fine, never noticed any problems with the discs.

When DVD TV Series' were first becoming a thing, they tried all kinds of things with the packaging to somehow make it unique, rather than efficient.

I never cared for those mass cardboard book styles where you had to unfold, and keep unfolding to get to your discs. FOX got a little smarter later, when they just made super slim mini cases that held two discs. And later then they had 4 in a case like that.

DVD "Menus" used to be all the rage too, making it an "experience" just to watch the movie. I guess they caught on later, realizing that people just wanted to watch the movie.

I don't mind any of my 24 TV DVD discs, they sit on the shelf collecting dust while I watch 24 in HD on Netflix, currently going through Season 1 and wow I think this is the most crisp I have ever seen it.

They seemed to use a bit of film grain for the first few episodes, I forget if they continue to use that in Season 1.
