He blamed adult related materials for his crimes

I read that he said that pornography was a major influence on him in committing crimes. As a matter of fact, studies show that most serial killers and sex offenders are avid consumers of pornography 9W. Marshall, “Report on the Use of Pornography by Sexual Offenders,” Report to the Federal Department of Justice, Ottawa, Canada, 1983).

It's just another reason why pornography should be banned.

Bundy was a psychopath; he would say anything if he thought it would benefit him.

I also feel a need to point out that Bundy, like most sociopaths, tend to blame everyone and everything else for his actions. What he called "violent pronography" was in fact the true crime/detective magazines of the 50's & 60's. For the most part - there were some underground porn back in those days, but it was hard to come by.

But no matter what he was reading, he made a conscious choice to kill. Unlike most people who read/watch that stuff. Some killers have never watched any porn and they still made that choice to kill. It's a conscious choice - he could have said "Hey, wait a minute--what am I doing? This is nuts!" at any time, but he didn't. The blame does not lie upon any media - it lies within himself alone. At least, that's what I think.

Ann Rule mentioned this in her book, then presented quotes from Bundy that contradicted it. Bundy had gotten interviews with that James Dobson idiot from Focus on the Family and told him what he wanted to hear, just as one of his sociopathic games to make a fool of Dobson.

Pornography won't make you do anything. In fact, the people I've known who were obsessed with it, and had the unhealthiest sexual hang-ups, were repressed as kids. If you want to get someone obsessed with something, make it taboo for them.

I was allowed to look at my dad's Playboys from the time I was two years old. They were never forbidden to me, and now I can take porn or leave it. I have no problem with it, but haven't bought a lot of it. And I've never raped, murdered, or sexually abused anyone and have no desire to.

Ted Bundy did what he did because he was a sociopath and that's what he wanted to do. It wasn't because he looked at pornography... which he apparently didn't really do all that much, anyway - he was leading Dobson on. A lot of what drove Bundy was his fragile ego. He was dumped by his girlfriend because she said he wasn't ambitious enough. So, he remade himself into an ambitious guy and got her back... only so he could dump her and then kill dozens of women who resembled her. That was a big motivator for him... but, he likely would have killed even without her bruising his tender little ego.

That was pure fiction. Lying was second nature to Bundy. The guy interviewing him was head of this Christian group against pornography. Bundy just said what the guy interviewing him wanted to hear. Bundy said in a letter to Ann Rule that he never got into pornography.

Blessed is he who has not seen and yet has faith.

Bundy was already a very disturbed person. His biggest motivations for murder was his confusion about his illegitimacy and his girlfriend dumping him. The true detective magazines may have added a little fuel to the fire but that's only because he was already psychopathic. Porn might somewhat influence someone who ALREADY has mental problems but it certainly is not the sole cause of violence, and Bundy is a perfect example of this.
