"Only author-written material"
I recently came across a site that describes this series as unique in that it uses (approximate quote) "only author-written material." Having just read each book before watching several episodes recently, I can attest that each plot is straight from the book (albeit compressed a bit to fit the time slot), but it occurred to me later that they probably also mean that the dialog is straight from Stout. We hadn't noticed that specifically, but the dialog did ring true, so I'm quite willing to believe it -- and will make a point of checking, next time we finish a book that has an episode.
The overall authenticity is so refreshing! Too many producers, screenwriters, directors, et al. seem determined to put "their personal stamp" on a production to the extent that the original material is nearly lost in the process.
