Sadly, Maury Chaykin passed away on July 27th, 2010 of heart valve issues. It was his 61st birthday. He will be missed.
For me, Maury Chaykin was in a company of four actors who took a literary character I had loved since childhood and BECAME that character. Jeremy Brett, David Suchet, Timothy Hutton, and Maury Chaykin.
Mr. Chaykin was a tremendous actor and my best wishes go out to his wife and daughter.
It is a sad loss and Nero Wolfe was a breakthrough role for him. Before that he was a noted supporting actor but not known for any one character.
Its that man again!!
I was devastated by the loss of Maury Chaykin. I have read all the Wolfe books and for me, he was the personification of Nero Wolfe.........we are lucky to have the DVDs of the excellent programs to remind us how much we will miss him and how perfect he was for the role.
shareOh wow -- I hadn't realized Maury Chaykin died the end of last month. He really brought Nero Wolfe to life, I have a hard time imagining any other actor in the role.
