This is what's wrong with movies today

Being a man of faith I don't like to use God's name in vain but Good LORD. There are so many things wrong with this movie I don't even want to get into it. I cannot believe that even the most stupid studio executive could approve such drudgery. How is this plot even close to being plausible, let alone entertaining?? It's just Hollywood whoring itself to the stupid younger generation that I, at 18 years of age, am unfortunately part of. I hope Extreme Ops is a miserable failure. I could come up with a better plot for a movie while sitting on the toilet.

PS Spielberg rules

...have yu even seen this movie

It's not about the plot, its about the skiing and snowboarding. That, and a rather attractive cast is the only reason it's gonna be seen. There is a huge percentage of the public that skis and snowboards. I instruct skiing at a ski mountain, I see how many people are there. There is an audience for this movie. And, when there's an audience, there will always be someone out there that will make a movie directed at them.

Um yeah you kind of blew it when you basically slapped God in the face there. The Almighty is not directly responsible for man's actions, even though He obviously gives man what he deserves in the end, be it good or bad. God doesn't create rapists, man has created rapists. We blew after the Garden of Eden. Sorry to preach, but that was a pretty stupid comment to make.

Yeah but god was a prick who liked to f^^k with people's heads. "There's an apple, now don't f^^king eat it!"

I'd be like "Well why put it there then, ass?"

Ofcourse I'm gonna eat the apple, for god is good and would do me no harm. Unless ofcourse I happen to chow down on the man's fruit.

I don't know where god went but I hope he never comes back, his shiz was stanky!

yes, i agree it blows.

i just finished it and it was everything you said

still kinda fond of it though, since it has a hint of a poignant air about it, somewhat. when that happens i can't always put my finger on what it is. maybe it was the snow, or rufus sewell. i like that actor.

but the prod value was low, and it shows. and the skateboard thing on the train is cheesy, and not even logical

btw you made this post ten years ago, so you must be 28 now? i find that interesting, like this thread is a time capsule for you, sortof. what has happened in your life in the last ten years. did you become a doctor? (saw your email)

isn't it interesting to revisit where you were a decade ago, and notice the changes. something poetic about that

Ha, it was funny to see a response to this post 10 years later. I'm 27 now, but certainly not a doctor! My email just uses the first two initials in my name, which just happen to be DR.

In the last ten years, I've graduated high school and college, got a real job, bought a house, met a great girl and married her. I joined IMDB in 1999 because I loved reading about movies. Soon enough, I realized that instead of reading about other people's films all the time, that I should go out and make some of my own. So I am a small-time filmmaker with a day job doing video production type stuff. I guess you could credit IMDB for helping me realize what I want to do for the rest of my life.

Of course, I do still enjoy reading (and talking about) other people's movies on here :)

man, that is great! what a great story. (and it's similar to mine!)

i teach school (scary huh, if you read my threads lol) and work on writing in my off time. been screenwriting for about ten years, got serious after 2005, and it has taken me that lonf to get geared up for my first feature which i plan to shoot in may and june. (gonna do pickup shots in feb and march, try to do principle photog in may and june to get it in the can and edit in my off time ....july)

last november i joined film specific, which has opened my eyes to the realities of selling films for real money.

i am WAY excited about mine. i bet you are too. what i am doing is taking a short i have and trying to expand it into a feature film. so far everyone loves the script, so that is encouraging. i hope to make this feature and sell it for real money, and after that make one film each summer (while still teaching) hopefully selling them, sort of as a side business

(have you sold your films? do you have a site? i am just getting mine set up now)

nice reply. interesting to see two posts from the same user ten years apart. :)
