Worst Walter Hill movie ever?

I don't think there's anything worst than this. Wesley Snipe's character was not interesting at all. He was very typical, and you didn't even feel like rooting for him. He was just some "cold" prisoner who everyone wanted to win, only because he was their "champ". Ving Rhames could have been a bad guy, but it seemed like he was a mix of "I'm a obnoxious prick" and "I'm innocent and was screwed", which both don't mix well. Then he lies about losing in the boxing match and gets out of prison? Everything in between was just slow and tedious.

How the hell do you make Red Heat, Warriors, and Trespass and not make a decent boxing/prison movie?!?

It's tough to call this the worst Walter Hill movie, when he directed the Warriors. I just don't get that flick, is supposed to be that bad? This was at least watchable.

reply

The Warriors wasn't that bad. Besides, it was quite a revolutionary movie at the time.

In my mind, no doubt, Walter Hill's worst movie has got to be "Another 48 Hrs." - it shows clear signs of HEAVY post-production tinkering.. I've read numerous interviews stating that the studio cut out a whole bunch of great scenes for no apparent (logical) reason other than to trim the running time.. which might be the case here too.

We NEED director's cuts of BOTH movies,NOW!

reply

Yeah, I need "Director's Cut" of Walter Hill movies.

reply

That'd be great. I always like to see the filmmaker's original vision, before the marketers got hold of it.

If you think 'The Warriors' was a bad movie, you know nothing about cinema.

Man I'm on the fence with Walter Hill... this one was terrible, Supernova was terrible, Streets of Fire was terrible, and not to mention he single handedly ruined the Aliens franchise (check into the production of the hell that was Alien3)...

This movie was just horribly corny. From Faulk jabbering on about the history of boxing and why I should care, that stupid ass singing the national anthem before the fight (word?), and of course the ring side announcer with his bow tie and microphone....

Who the fck is he talking to? Hated this movie.
