Although not perfect, I think this is a great movie.
The movie could have been more balanced in run-time developing both American and North Vietnamese characters. I wouldn't have minded if that would have made it a longer movie.
But, all the brutality shown in the movie is good. It shows how horrible this kind of thing is. Humanizing the North Vietnamese soldiers makes the battle and killing not heroic, but tragic.
Col. Hal Moore was not any better than the Vietnamese commander. He also seemed like a religious nut. They were both killers that used kids to murder each other. There were so many evil people in power on both sides, but the ones that had no power other than to kill and take orders were the ones to die and suffer.
