Movie should have mentioned LZ Albany

I really wish this movie would have included the battle at LZ Albany they day after the 3rd day of battle LZ XRAY. While Xray was a success, the next day hundreds of Americans of the relief column were ambushed and very few people survive and I think this movie should have somehow mentioned the battle like in the book.

Yes, it is unfortunate that the whole story is not told. Perhaps if both XRay and Albany stories were told, there would not be enough time in the standard movie length to do proper service to both? Of course, Hollywood likes to have a happy ending...

I like this film a lot but the ending bugs me (the little flag in the stump, evrryone standing around as if it was all over and the viewer being left with the impression that everybody left the field. In fact, Moores group (1st Bn and elements of 5th Bn) were able to leave only because 2nd Bn had come in to secure the perimeter. They were subsequently chopped up at Albany.

If nothing else, a post script should have been added at the end...

Thanks for the reply. Your probably right. That would make the movie way too long and also ending the movie on such a down note would probably not be what they were going for at all. Everything about your second paragraph I TOTALLY agree with.

A post script would have been a good idea at the end but what do I know lol Still it should have somehow been mentioned. Thanks again

Haters gonna hate but trolls are pathetic

If they removed all the emotional family stuff and the lengthy start to the movie (some of the training) they could have added LZ Albany.

LZ Albany was a very important aspect to the engagements and it makes for great entertainment too. There were some really heroic acts in it.

Speaking as someone who saw the film first and read the book second, I was pretty shocked reading about what actually happened. I can't believe the other battle wasn't even mentioned in the film, considering it's significance.

100% agree

This book describes LZ Albany. Pretty sad, 2 platoons lost.

Baptism: A Vietnam Memoir

Definetly deserves mention, even in the final credits....
