several battle scenes depict mass killings via rockets, bombs, mortars, etc., without specifically depicting individual deaths.

Who's dead numbered 305? If you mean 1st Cav, don't forget the battalion what stepped into it at LZ XRay (NOT in the film) suffered heavy casualties;

Agree.

I recall getting into an argument several years ago who kept insisting that the amount of NVA killed far outnumbered the marines by thousands. Glad to know Im not the only one who thought that was *beep*
