I'd check it out.

I actually like The Scorpion King and think it's better than either of the two direct Mummy sequels. It's a shame it never got a proper follow-up and instead just got a bunch of shitty direct-to-video sequels.

Mamoa would be a good fit though I also wouldn't mind seeing a talented unknown put into the role.
