Apparently, Stitch is being made into a Japanese cartoon called "Stitch!". Other articles say it will premiere in Japan in October, but this one went into more detail.
Unfortunately for Lilo lovers, Lilo will be replaced by a girl named Hanako. D:

Speed Racer? Saw the previews. Can't say I really care to see it. But yeah. You have to expect a little backlash for replacing Lilo. Ya' see, I wouldn't mind seeing Lilo and Stitch done in a different animation style. But for the love of all that is holy!! Replacing the plucky Polynesian for a cheesy Japanese schoolgirl just ain't cool.

But it's like Americans taking a popular Japanese anime like Naruto or InuYasha and making our own American cartoon series about it. It's just something that is not done.

And BAD, BAD move on their part to replace Lilo. She's the weird factor in L&S. It's what people love about the franchise. Yeah, Stitch is cute and all, but he's nothing without Lilo.

Actually, it's not Japanese twisting the subject at all. It's Disney US trying to break into the Japanese market. The concept is a US original idea being shipped to Japan, not a Japanese idea to US an American brand.

This is a re imagining, not a sequel. As far as this series will be concerned there won't ever have been a Lilo. Stitch will have a new origin and his first encounters on Earth will be re-written.
The reason that they are dropping Lilo is that this series is to be set on one of the outer Japanese islands, so they want a character whom is representative of the local population. It wouldn't mesh well for her to be a foreigner. It would be like having the original Lilo be a little cockney match girl.

Actually, it's the other way around. The series are good and are then IMPORTED not EXPORTED by companies such as 4Kids who rearrange the episodes, change the dialog, cut out the emotional scenes, and then market them for children up to 10 years younger than they were originally intended to be for. Also, their ethnicity IS often changed. For example, shows such as Card Captor Sakura, Tokyo Mew Mew Sailor Moon and Crayon Shinchan were re-written to make all of the characters either American or culturally androgynous.
Anyway, it's beside the point. They are not remaking Lilo and stitch to be Japanese, they are making a standalone spin off series. you know, like when they took Daria from Beavis and Butthead, and gave her her own show.

Crayon Shin-Chan was just re-written with American humor, becuase most people wouldn't get it. All the things you listed were abominations that were re-written by 4kids. No other company Americanizes it BUT 4 kids.
shareThere are actually two English language versions of Crayon Shin-Chan. There was the Jetix/Fox Kids version which has been heavily censored for children's viewing and the Funimation version which is aimed at an older audience. Both have been heavily changed and Americanized. You're probably more familiar with the Funimation version on Adult-Swim. The entire series chronology was re-written as were many of the jokes, the characters were renamed and their personalities were altered. The entire series was also time-shifted 15 years into the future.
It's not just 4kids that mutilates Anime, quite a few companies Americanize (As above with Funimation). Card Captor Sakura, Space Battleship Yamoto, Gatchaman and Sailor Moon, were all heavily Americanized without 4Kids being involved. As were Macross and star Musketeer Bismarck. Many other shows were heavily censored by other companies, too. CN is pretty bad for this. Take Tenchi Muyo, for example.

Just saw the first episode today. It's not that bad, truthfully. And so far, it actually could be thought of as taking place in the same universe, only far in the future.

Weaboo is like... a negative term directed to anyone overly obsessed with Japanese culture to the point where they become annoying.
I just saw that 20 seconds ago. All I have to say is....ARE YOU F'N KIDDING ME?!
But of course, the anime fiends will apologize for it like they did for the abysmal short-lived Powerpuff Girls anime and the Batman anime shorts called "Gotham Knight".
