The fight scene in the house

This is from the Wikipedia article on this movie: "the original version of Jumba attacking Stitch in Lilo's home was found to be too violent by test audiences, and was revised to make it more comedic."

Anyone else thought the final version is pretty screwed up in tone? This movie's pretty heavy for a Disney film, but then suddenly it's *very* silly while Lilo and Nani's home is being destroyed, but then after it goes serious again, with Bubbles reacting to the destroyed house like a normal person.

I think I would have preferred the "too violent" version.

EDIT: Another change that was made was that apparently, Stich originally stole a passenger jet somehow and used that to chase Gantu rather than the alien ship used in the final version. This change was made because of 9/11.

Another bad decision. It's more appropriate for Stich to use something from the Earth to fight Jubba since he's adopted it as his home, and the spectacle of an advanced, sci-fi alien ship being menaced by a compartivly primitive human craft by dint of sheer size and weight is pretty funny.

You ever actually seen the "original" version of the house fight? Check YouTube and type in "Jumba Attacks." I agree, I think it was better than the end result.

I didn't realize the original version existed in any form. As I expected it was much better. Thanks a bunch for the link.

Wow, yeah that is much better. To bad there isn't an alternate version of this movie for dvd release, as a bonus or whatever.
