Disney's most original film
Anyone else agree.
shareYep.
Almost feels more like a Pixar movie. Really unexpected film. And one of their best.
Nazis. I hate these guys.
Can't believe it's taken me 11 years to see this wonderful movie! I've watched it three times in the past two days!
Beautiful character designs, and the voice work is fantastic!
It has taken me even more! I personally blame the marketers, who apparently made sure this movie has eluded me for such a long time. I saw it by a very slim chance too. I'm lost for words, really.
I am also sad, as I am not very fond of Disney in general, especially considering they've been pushing CG all the way. To summarize my feelings with a matching line here: "I really believed Disney had a chance. Then Pixar came along."
It really is..! I remember thinking it sounded interesting when it came out at the cinema. But, even back then, I found the idea of Disney films rather dated and they'd been completely eclipsed by Pixar's output. But, when I noticed it was on Channel 5 over the weekend, I decided I should definitely give it a go and set the recorder... I'm so glad I did - it's fab..! The songs could have been a bit more interesting and they could have made more use of the Hawaiian language. (Though, having said that, I do think it's really good that they did make some use of the Hawaiian language...) However, it's a good story... It's really funny and, from time to time, quite moving... And, even though it's conventional animation, it's visually really interesting... I'll definitely be asking for the DVD on my Christmas present list.
shareMay I suggest you go for the Blu-Ray version instead? It's got the DVDs in there too. Once you get a Blu-Ray player, you'll have the disc ready... better deal, I think. However, I'm glad I didn't watch this on DVD for the first time!
