I finally got it! I feel dumb now!

for years, I was thinking about David's line

"You're from outer space. I hear the surfing is choice."

I always thought that it didn't make much sense. maybe he was making a lame joke, maybe he was just a *little* toasted, y'know?

I finally figured out that he's making a reference to The Silver Surfer!

I feel so dumb that it took me that long to get it!

Kill with a borrowed knife. -Sun Tzu

Hm...I thought he was just being a looney surfer guy.

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

reply

Yeah, I have to agree with son-worshipper. I can't see the people behind Lilo and Stitch referencing Fantastic Four. It just seems like...a bit of a stretch.

A Jedi shall not know anger; nor hatred; nor love.

reply

I always tought it was because he actually met with aliens before

reply

I never got it. I always thought he was just crazy.

I could not have ordered "rootin tootin beans"!

reply

you are maybe right after all when he sees the red spaceship, he is rather calm

reply

i highly doubt this relates to the fantastic 4. disney usually wouldn't try to promote a movie from a different company.

david's line was just to be silly, tongue in cheek kind of humor.

reply

This isn't normal Disney, though.

According to this site, Lilo and Stitch came out in 2002. Fantastic Four didn't enter production mode 'til 2004.

It would be cool if the OP was correct about the Silver Surfer reference....

Ben Grimm forever!

reply

Yes but the Silver Surfer character has been around a LONG time so its possible, it wouldn't have necessarily been related to the newest movie.

reply

I don't think the Silver Surfer is part of the public awareness, pixie.

Ben Grimm forever!

reply

Haha, you're probably right! :)

Nathaniel: Sire, do you...like yourself?
Edward: What's not to like?

reply

hahaha it could be!!! never thought of it that way either

reply

Might be he was referencing Treasure Planet, where the main character windsurfs.
~ That which does not kill me, should better run pretty damn fast

reply

I REALLY doubt that was the intent. I think he was just making conversation. He was unphased by aliens in the first place.
