ADA Ron Carver

Always liked what Courtney B. Vance did with that character. He never should have
been dropped.

In carver voice:

"You simply do not have a case."

-- moments later, they win!!!

So: a realistic, down to earth show..which is completely off the wall swarming with magic robots?!

Yep. I knew from this show that he'd nail Johnnie Cochran and he sure did! A well-deserved Emmy nomination (and hopefully win) there.

And so Governor Devlin, because even the cost of freedom can be too high, I REFUSE your pardon!

Great ethical character. He could have conspired to have a "likely" suspect held against his rights, but he declares "I love The Constitution more."
He rocks!

I agree, I loved Carver. He was very by the book and followed the law, unlike Jack McCoy he wouldn't bend the rules to win.

I really missed him when he left, the legal portion of the show was good. He was underused and the show was never as good without him.

It seemed like Carver always said things like "we simply do not have a case" ...... And then 15 min later, presto, he's less peeved and fully on board based on whatever just happened.
He was doing something similar nearly each time he was in it, and the quiet voice said the same lines much of the time.
I liked him, but with the lack of range, he wasn't missed too much after he was gone.

I will say that without the legal part, and the addition of Ross, it was definitely on its way to being a different show from then on.

"what's this? A doorknob? Good show!" -- the easily impressed Dr. Bartley

He was a total bore-fest! This lack of depth really irritated me about him. I also thought that other ADA would be better for the show. It was only him , all the time.

For me once he left the show dipped a bit; it wasn't fully down until when Noth left. Vance gave the show a sense of class and style whenever he showed up. Carver made for one dedicated and badass ADA; he didn't mess around he was all about business and wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty. Direct 180 from McCoy and the SVU ADA's.
