Is it just me or did all of the cast look extremely old for their age? Was it the make-up or the extra power of the UV rays in New Zealand that added years to their appearance.
I'm sorry I just can't believe beth allen was 14 when filming series 1. She looked like she was about 19/20 or older and it's the same with the whole cast Ebony, Lex, Bray.
Beth Allen was born 28 May 1984. She was 15 years old by the time The Tribe came out and had 6 years of acting under her belt by that time.
The part she played required her to be part mother figure and tribal leader. Considering that all the adults had passed away her character was forced to ‘grow up fast’.
I personally do not see any UV rays having anything to do with the cast members looking older then there true age. I see it more as they are all great professionals with many having years of acting experience. They, do to there chosen profession at an young age, had to balance full time acting with full time schooling. Many times having to get up as early as 4am to be in make-up, costume and on location for an early morning shoot. Many of the shoots with the city in the far background were shoot in the early morning as not to catch the city traffic in the shoot.
So it was all those early mornings that made them look old?
Beth allen was born on 28th may 1984, and the tribe started around that time in 1999, when she would have turnt 15, but she would have been 14 whilst shooting the vast majority (if not all) of the series.
You have to admit the cast look much older. (not old, but much older)
I personally don't thin kthe cast look very old at all. Especially on the DVD season 1 boxset they have some footage before filming started of the cast without any sort of make-up and they all look very young.
Although i think mostly it jsut depends. When watching Made or My super sweet 16, all the American teens look so much older than British teens to me.
So perhaps to you New Zealand teens look oldre. Although i personally think they look around about their age.
I conclude that it must have just been the make-up and the grown up attitude the characters had.
I do agree that american teenagers look older than british teenagers. I think british people just look young anyway, could that also be lack of sunshine?
I agree, i think maybe it was just the make-up and the type of character they were portraying.
Erm, i doubt it has anythign to do with sunshine, perhaps it's just a difference in culture? or expectations? Although it might be sunshine...i'm not a scientist so i can't disagree, but i wouldn't have thought it was that.
i also thought some of the cast looked old for their age. ie. beth allen in series 1 was 14 but to me looked more like 17 or so. i think (for the girls at least) it may have had a lot to do with the fact that they wore so much makeup. put any teenage girl in lots of makeup and they will look older. plus some of them probably just looked old for their age.
