The Tribe and The Road

Yesterday I found myself in front of the TV (yet again), this time to watch the new movie The Road starring Viggo Mortenson. It has been called "inventive" and "different" and it is, don't get me wrong.

When I was younger, I used to watch The Tribe constantly, I own the DVDs and loved Lex, Ebony, Amber and the rest fiercely. And - believe it or not - the world of The Road did not seem so "new" after all. It's in many ways very similar to the world of The Tribe - the anarchy, the gangs you have to watch out for, the lack of food, the constant struggle. Sure, there are adults in The Road, but in the later seasons of the Tribe, they are pretty old too.

Did anyone else find the similarities intriguing? =)

I don't think they took the idea from The Tribe. This basic concept has been around for a very very long time. What they mean by new is probably not exactly the events in the movie/book but the feel, the themes, etc...the

I just watched The Road on DVD this past weekend. Parts of it were filmed right near me. The parts near the end were they are at the ocean...Not! It was Lake Erie, and the part where he was shot by the arrow.

All the best.

One thing that I find similar to The Tribe is the book of Alexander S. Neill: "The last man alive. A story for children from the age of seven to seventy." Even though it is not exactly the same, the atmosphere reminds me partly of it :)
