Chloe and Ved were sacked for costing Cloud 9 studio $100,000!

Just found this really interesting article in which Ved talks about how he was sacked from the program along with Chloe, for disappearing with her for the day instead of turning up to film. They were apparently dating which was against the rules. Their little trip away cost Cloud 9 10s of thousands of dollars.

I do sort of remember Chloe leaving the program abruptly, but I never knew this was why? Surprised the information didn't 'get out' considering how active fans were on the Tribe Talk bulletin board.

Shame that Ved had to leave, we never got to see 'more of him'!

Edit: Forgot the *beep* link http://www.tribeheaven.co.uk/articles/2004/tearaway/index.htm

Aye, they brought Mega in to replace Ved,

Ved was nailed on the to be the season 5 villain had the actor not got sacked.

reply

That info did get out, I mean that's a 2004 article after all. & most Tribe fans are aware of this.
But yeah, it's a shame they were kicked off. Stupid Jaimee.
I would have like to see what storylines Ved and Cloe would have had if they weren't forcibly written off..
The guy above likes to say that Ved would have had Mega's role but it's just speculation. Very plausible though.
Either way I think Mega did a good job and the plot flowed really well in series 5.

On the contrary, series five was the biggest load of *beep* ever, imo. From series one and two having been the best TV that has ever been produced, it is a real shame how far the show fell.

reply

for you anyway

reply

Series 5 was like a rehash of Series 3 and Series 4.

Really, how many times did they need to rehash Zoot.

They even do it in the new A.J Penn book.

Mega replacing Ved is pretty obvious as there isn't a single scene with Mega and Ved together or a scene with Ved where Mega is referenced. His scenes were shot after the actor who played Ved left.

reply

Series 5 wasn't about Zoot, It was about Mega's control of the city, government, manipulation. Zoot was just a trick up his sleeve he used to create a safe zone.
But by your logic series 3 is a rehash of series 2 for featuring the Chosen again.
& Series 2 is rehash of season 1 for bringing the virus & antidote back.

& Yes I'm aware of what happened with Ved. That doesn't automatically mean he would have had Mega's role in series 5. But like I said, it's very plausible. & I think it would've been cool.

reply

It wasn't all about Zoot, but did he really need to be a staple point in the series? Again?

Did we need another series dedicated to "overthrowing the evil invading tribe"?

As for Series 3, that was a logical conclusion to Series 2 where The Chosen have just taken over.

Series 5 was more like "The mall rats beat the Technos, but we need another villain, so let's set them free immediately again"., genius writing, eh?!

Not to mention a whole load of it didn't even make sense.

reply

it's a shame they were kicked off. Stupid Jaimee.

WTH stupid Jaimee? Its not just her fault- it does take both of them to be dating!

reply

I think Mega did a good job and the plot flowed really well in series 5.

He did, but I remember some inconsistency (likely the work of rushed writers) in his character.

reply

I used to laugh at Mega's laugh- sounded like he was having an asthma attack

reply

ugh...i HAAAAATEEE Mega! But I think what I truly hate is not so much Mega, but the guy who was "portraying" Mega..I mean that guy couldn't act for *beep* And that emotionless..monotone voice was driving me crazy and was so aggravating! Every time he would come on, I wanted to skip the scenes immediately... the idea of Mega was interesting, but the execution of the acting was the poorest on the show and let's all agree that most of the actors would NOT receive an Oscar in their lifetime (save for Lexie and Ebony, but I'm biased when it comes to those 2 lol) and whereas I can easily close my eyes on most of it (because I love the show for no real reason), Danni and Mega were just HORRIBLE!!!!

The range of acting talent was pretty wide. Ryan and Cloe weren't so good either. Most of the non-regular/guest actors were TERRIBLE! On the good side, Amber, Bray and the Guardian were among the talented ones, and to me, Trudy was the best of all. I'm not surprised that Antonia Prebble seems to have had the most successful post-Tribe acting career.

Plus Tai-san came back and then disappeared which messed up Season 5: I was intrigued to see where her character had gone.

Then again - Michelle Ang was one of the best actors on the show and moved on to Neighbours for a while. I love that she pops up in shows now and then - Grey's Anatomy and NCIS LA

If you're gonna screw up, do it in style. That's why I say.
