It's not very clear, but I assume it's relevant.
One of my biggest beefs with this film -- the voices were too low, some of the accents were too strong to understand, and then they'd make everything else really loud, such that you had to adjust your volume frequently, and it was difficult to understanding what people were saying.
I didn't hear a question, Paul said something to the effect of "the darkness is tricking us. It's lying to us." And Regina basically answered "not anymore, we're safe now." Then demonic version of boyfriend says "no" and drives them into a pitch black tunnel.

Paul: "It's tricking us. It's a liar."
Regina: "It's over Paul."
Demon: "No."
Then the car drives into the pitch black tunnel.
