I just thought that I would let everyone know that today is the third anniversary since I created the USA UP ALL NIGHT website. I just wanted to let everyone know about this.
In June I just completed my first movie script that I am trying to get done and made into a movie called THE POSSESSION OF INNOCENCE. I even have a Facebook page that has information about the movie. If you would like to know who has been casted in the movie or any new information then check it out. Thank you for your time, help, and support.
Robert, I wish there was some way to update the information on this show here on IMDB. USA Up All Night did NOT premiere in 1986. It premiered on January 7, 1989 with Gilbert Gottfried as host, and the featured movies being Cheerleaders Beach Party, followed by Stuck on You.
There was no Friday night edition originally. It was launched later that same year in 1989, replacing the 26-episode Camp Midnite.
Yes it is 3 years that the website has been up and running now. I sure do hope to see more people who love USA UP ALL NIGHT there at the website. It would be nice to see the numbers grow even larger than what it is now. I am quite happy with the number of people who are members now because my goal before the 3rd anniversary was to hit 125 members and we beat it a week ago by one new member.
I do not know how to update the IMDB information on when USA UP ALL NIGHT started and that is why I have not tried to change it. I did not start watching UAN until December of 1990 because it was a late Friday night and at the time Caroline Schlitt was hosting the show. My first time watching UAN was when they were showing Nightmare Sisters first and then the second film they were showing was Sorority Babes In The Slime Bowl O'Rama. That is when I became hooked with USA UP ALL NIGHT. I always thought Caroline Schlitt was cute as the host and always wondered why USA Network got rid of her. She was great as a host and I got use to the beautiful Rhonda Shear who took over for her.
I did not know that there was another TV show that UAN replaced on Friday nights because I really did not watch that show or knew anything about it to be honest with you about it.
In this interview Rhonda recently gave, the reason for Caroline's departure, is, in some way, mentioned. I hope you don't feel too disappointed or bitter about it, though.
Thank you for that. I knew that Caroline Schlitt did not have the over the top sex appeal that Rhonda Shear had but I thought Ms. Schlitt still was a good host for USA UP ALL NIGHT. Rhonda Shear will always be the best host of UAN in my opinion and that is why I had to mention Caroline Schlitt as the first host of USA UP ALL NIGHT, listing second Rhonda Shear, and then a Caroline Barba who replaced Rhonda as the host of UAN after NBC decided to bring it back even though in 2002 they were just airing the movies and using the bumpers of USA UP ALL NIGHT. NBC did not keep the revived UAN on very long because it disappeared.
I didn't know there was a revival of the show. Your site was the first one to mention that. It's not mentioned here, or even on Wikipedia.
I gotta confess: I actually didn't see much, if any, of USA Up All Night when I was growing up. I was born in the late 80's, so obviously, I was too young to stay up late.
But as the result of YouTube getting popular, I saw some bits and pieces here and there of the series. I can see why it was loved by so many young adult insomniacs. It was literally cutting-edge television for its time. And I say this as someone who also thinks the USA Network of the 80's and most of the 90's was way better. And with Rhonda now posting her segments on her official YT channel, I'm more interested than ever in learning more about the programs' history.
Finally, I hope you mention on your site the series' 25th anniversary when the time comes (January 7, 2014). It would be a sin not to. Heh.
Yes I did not find out about the revival until I came onto IMDB and I saw that Caroline Barba was a part of the list of hosts hosting the show. I was like wait a minute! I do not remember a Caroline Barba hosting USA UP ALL NIGHT. I do remember Caroline Schlitt and Rhonda Shear but not Caroline Barba. When I looked at the information that was posted and when it was on it was shown in 2002. At that time I was on active duty in the Navy and I would be up at that hour of the night but I never flipped the channels to look at USA Network. I basically stopped watching USA Network in the early 2000's. I might have watched it when I was still a wrestling fan for WWE but that was about it though. I am glad that my website has been informative for you with information about the show. That was my intentions was to educate those who never got the opportunity to watch USA UP ALL NIGHT or the earlier programming of USA Network during the 80's and 90's. I am hoping that eventually someone will wake up and start running program like this once again.
Well I am happy that I was able to inform you about USA UP ALL NIGHT and the old programming of USA Network prior to NBC getting their greedy hands on a great network like USA Network. I loved the independence of USA Network and how they would show things that no other network would do. TBS and TNT would try to copy what the old USA Network would do by creating a similar style of programming. TNT had Monster Vision with Joe Bob Briggs who was also knows his information about low budget films and B movies. It was great to watch guy. Even Comedy Central had their own programming that was called on the weekends T&A Movies. That was great to watch as well in the 90's and during the week in the afternoons.
Yes you are correct that someone like me who was in their 20's at the time of when USA UP ALL NIGHT was on during the 90's loved watching UAN and the USA Networks programming from the 80's and 90's. It was far superior compared to todays programming to be honest with you about it. It seemed as if USA Network was trying to do things that other networks would not. That is why I prefer the old programming compared to now. See if NBC would have allowed USA Network to maintain some of the original programming mixed with their style of programming then I think it would not have been so bad at all. People would respect them a bit more than they do now.
I will definitely be mentioning about USA UP ALL NIGHT's 25th Anniversary on January 7, 2014 when it comes around guy. Not to worry about that.
I think and hope that my website will be a blue print for a future TV network to get some ideas on how to have independent programming than what everyone else has. I hope that someone with some money will want to create something like how USA Network use to be like.
