Punch Drunk refers to a debilitating condition boxers get from repeatedly getting hit in the head.
Adam S. character was so emotionally beat up by his sisters he was emotionally debilitated.
That's my theory and I'm stickin to it.
(1/2 way through the film now).

That's a funny euphemism. Boxers do stumble around looking drunk when they've been hit hard enough.
