Shows the stupidity of humanity not able to handle something outside of their feeble constructs.
shareI wish they would re-make this movie. Doesn't need to be a reboot or sequel. We need more quality films that set your imagination and curiosity on fire such a this one. Film-wise, don't get me started on all the utility patents buried by the USA.
share7.4 IMDb rating - seems about right to me. I liked the film but loved the books. I think this is one of those cases where the film will never satisfy the readers and relatively few others will be interested.
I think it's quite a whimsical story that depends on the Doctor's response to bring it alive so in an odd kind of way maybe they got the balance wrong - the doctor should have the bigger role and probably be the bigger star.
So aliens look just like us and forgot where they parked their spaceship? So they end up in the loony bin!
sharetotally agree, i am not particularly an intelectual or anything like that but god damn that movie is incredible, makes you think about so many things and shows how limited some people are in the way they think.

shareIt's the Hollywood version of some very good books. However Man Facing Southeast was apparently made several years before the book was published.
It would take a lot of digging to find who was first with this trope.
