Alexander's Future

Would he be able to rebuild and educate society with the help of the library assistant?

reply

I think he could, but there wouldn't be much he could do within his lifetime. He would have to set up a base of apprentices and have them carry on the work after he died.

They had a similar ending in the old 1960s Disney film, where when the time-traveler finished telling his story to his friends, he went back into his library, took a bunch of books, and went back into his time machine to the future to help the people there, and the friends he had talked to in the present could only speculate which books he took back to the future to help him and the Eloi.

To be fair, despite the cheesy special-effects, the 1960s version was actually better told than this version.

The 1960 film was not a Disney film. It was produced by MGM.

I guess Disney purchased it and showed it on their channel then. Because that's where my parents recorded it from back in the 80s, and it even had an actor in it who voiced Scrooge McDuck later on.
