Such a waste of potential!

I remember watching this movie back in 2002 or 2003 when it was released and I was not impressed even though I was only 13. I decided to give it a second viewing yesterday since I am kind of hyped for time travel lately after seeing Rise of the Planet of the Apes (great movie btw).

It really bugs me how much of a potential this movie had, but bad writting ruined it. In a lot of places the movie seems to jump really fast and it seemed like too much too fit into 90 minutes. For example when he first arrives at the Eloi land the movie straight jumps to him being in a bed and getting healed. I rather watch him get out of the machine and find them for his self.

On the positive side the Morlocks looked great. The special effects were top notch, the setting looked great even the actors did ok. Also the soundtrack was awesome.

6/10

Mostly, I agree with your opinion. Thank you and good 2012! (More than a year later, my answer... a kind of "jump in time") (About my English: I'm sorry.) :)

...which was pessimistic but great, toward the end.
This movie version is far inferior to the 1960's one despite the lavish
special effects, which unfortunately don' t make the movie.
As you have said, it was such a waste of talent and work.

It was a tale of 2 movies as I really enjoyed the 1st half of the movie where it dealt with his backstory and why he decided to build the machine in the first place. But things just went awry when he started traveling to the future and totally didn't like the whole Morlocks sequence. It just didn't seem to be the same movie and strayed to far from what was a promising start. Don't know what they could of done to make the future storyline connect with his past but what they did just didn't do it for me.

I didnt think it was bad at all, it was a very fun film, that decided to go a different direction from the earlier adaptation, but it had heart, and spirit, which a lot of films *cough*Transformers*cough* lack. BBut a good adaptation of the book had already been made.

The Morlocks didn't look great and the special effects were terrible. The Morlocks looked like some sort of animated Photoshop things and the special effects were born of some sort of animated Photoshop-like software. Uggh.
