Why????

Why remake a classic. The 1960 pic was heads and tails above this, even
with the primitive (now) SFX the story was much closer to the original
than the 2002 piece of trash. Also, no Eloi ever hotter the Yvette Yvette Mimieux.

The original may be a classic, but still was quite bad and cheesy. This film wasn't all that great either, but at least it featured some interesting ideas (like how the Eloi had adapted to live with nature, the uber morlock, that VOX guy, etc). So I really don't see why you have to get so dramatic about someone remaking that "classic".

many good movies are remake after few decades, for new generations, for better pictures, effects, and others, like spiderman, superman, batman, ironman, captain america, etc, including this one

reply

Because the grandson of "George" suggested it and Warners bought it.

Still, the Machine is one amazing prop.

reply

Why indeed.
Remakes of classic films serve no purpose other than
to wring a few more dollars out of the original.
No film needs to be remade unless all copies of
the original have totally deteriorated or been
destroyed.
This desecration of the original film is nothing
more than updated special effects and therefore
missing the awe of the original at a time
when special effects no matter how "cheesy" they
may look today were truly special.
Now audiences expect it...ho hum

I have to say that I much preferred the original film with Rod Taylor, I even liked the special effects. Remaking a film with up to date special effects and more violence doesn't make it better, just different. Nothing like the book of course, considering when it was written.
