why didnt redford and pitt talk againafter doc on way??

I loved this movie and thought REDFORD WAS GREAT! Movie desrved more credit, but what dont make sense is, Redford calls Pitt and Pitt say`s he can get the doctor there on time. So they had communication then? Why did they not talk again? Pitt could have told him he was there! I loved movie and thought was very underated, but that made no sense? Why would have Redford not called him one last time to ask "were are you?" They never talked while he was racing threw city? Seen 20 times and just relizing that made no sense? Im i missing something?

Yeah, I was wondering that too a bit. I'm guessing that Bishop figured Muir would wait so he didn't bother to call and Muir figured Bishop wouldn't make it so he put plan B into action and once it was started it would be too late to stop it. Also, I'm not sure what time frame they were giving us. I know Muir told the militia a particular time I don't know what time it was when he told them that. I don't know how much time he was giving Bishop to get there.

I think its just another way of showing that Muir went by the book and didn't look back so that when he pulled all the stuff he did to get Bishop out it made it look all that much more out of character and made him seem even more human.

I agree with sschind, and will just add a couple more things:

The guy they were trying to assassinate was leaving, so Redford didn't know if Pitt would make it in time, and he had to be sure that they killed him.

It also showed that Redford didn't care about how he used people (and if they died), and Pitt did. It also solidified Pitt's decision "not to end up like Muir" - which came soon after.

You're missing something. Muir has already called and sent the suicide bomb before Bishop and the doctor made it there. And that's why at the moment the doctor made it to the front door of the building, the suicide bomb truck almost made it there at the same time.

Remember the big beard guy told Muir "the Sheik could be leaving in an hour or 10 min". So it's not like Muir really had that much time to wait. It's just in the movie they have to switch the scenes back and forth so you can get the dramatic message. It's not that long in reality.

The point is, Bishop was late and he was lucky that he could even make it at the last second. It was highly possible that the Sheik could have been gone. (you can also see that he is ready to leave the building). So it would be too late to switch to plan B if Muir actually waited till Bishop told him at the last second that "Sorry we didn't make it", especially for a long term operation like that.

BTW, Bishop's mobile phone was not like the ones we're using nowadays. It might have connection problems and Bishop had to focus driving anyway. And obviously Bishop didn't even bring it with him when he left the car and escorted the doctor to the final checkpoint. The way Bishop does things is over-confident and reckless sometimes and it's shown too many times in the movie.
