A sequel would be fantastic!

Have Pitt and Redford 15 years later in Baghdad, Kabul or Mogadishu. Both 'ROGUE'

reply

No. ...no. As much as I would like to see it continued, doing so would *beep* everything up, and it'd probably suck in an attempt to appeal to the masses

reply

Agreed - there's a certain amount of closure at the end of this, that is acceptable and fitting.

reply

A sequel in this film is not needed.

reply

This is a good movie, not Hollywood pulp.

Normally, when I find those rare movies with the quality and intelligence of this one, I'm keen to see the characters developed further in a new story.

But in this case, I have to agree with other posters here in saying that the brilliant closure provided at the end is such that any possible sequel would only spoil it.

Making a sequel to this movie would be like making a sequel to Boondock Saints.

I don't like the idea of a sequel. However, a prequel about how Muir became the super-spy. His dealings with Digger Gibson from MI 6, his relationship with Folger, Harkin and the other characters. Also developing his character as well as others from his past that shaped him to be who he became. Now that would be interesting.

I almost numchucked you, you don't even realize!

reply

Very good idea. I'll go along with that.

reply

Well, lets see...

Muir is on the lamb, as he is likely a wanted man. I mean, anyone here think they will just let him walk away after creating an international incident? Either that or he is in jail.

Bishop is definitely not an agent anymore. Possibly in jail. Or on the lamb himself. Again, he started that international incident by going "rouge" in the first place.

Options:
A) They are both in prison.
B) One of them is in prison and the other still at large.
C) They are both on the lam.

I think the only viable story, that would still keep this a "spy thriller", would be to have them discover some terror plot(s) where ever they are, jail or some third world hide-out, and use that information to somehow get back into the agency's "good graces". They work with the agency to take out the bad guys. Some cool spy stuff, a few twists, and a bunch of explosions later, Muir becomes semi-retired and Bishop becomes a NOC.

That's one scenario. I like Pitt and Redford on screen together. Not that the odds of it happening again are very high.

Alas, Hadley is doomed. The CIA want to kill her, the Chinese want her to rot in a cell, the British want to put her on trial and then imprison her. Her only hope is that Bishop persuades the CIA to give her a new identity and confine her to Groom Lake as a Health and Safety director and Bishop is Base Photographer (Records and Incidents), both get the occasional respite perhaps at Shemya, anywhere out of range of the Chinese who will hunt both and kill them on sight!
