The Goofs in the movie were deliberate

I really like this movie, yet the new computers, cell phone and San Diego cap that weren't around in 1991 were quite noticable to me. Then with the newer Arab song, the Chinese speaking in the wrong dialect and the East Germans speaking with the Hungarian accents (as others on this board noted) leaves me to conclude that all of these readily discernible "goofs" weren't goofs at all, but a spy game for you to play, just as Nathan Muir was training Bishop to spy.

Seeing that people on this board are taking all that stuff so seriously, it's a little surprising they didn't consider that the goofs were there to "find".

hahahahahah that cracked me up

This is an interesting issue. I was wondering about this as well, and came to the same conclusion. It's just a little too obvious in some places. For example, the music in the restaurant is just too loud compared to other movies.

they werent deliberate, they were honest mistakes. films crews have "consistency people" walking around the set all the time looking for errors like this but sometimes they miss a few things here or there. the reason they miss them is that they're small and nearly insignificant. i mean cmon, a german who sounds more hungarian? who gives a crap?

Here's one the "consistency people" missed.
Doumet is watching Hadley's apartment. Bishop comes out and we can see Hadley's blue 2CV Citroen at the left of the screen.
Hadley comes out and turns left, walks to the corner where the 2CV now is.
Then... Doumet stands up and... the 2CV is back on the left of the screen!!

The page <moviemistakes> reckons there are 34 mistakes, but most of them are so trivial I wonder what the point is in pointing them out. Hey, it's a movie, if anyone expects absolute total accuracy... they are bound to be disappointed.

how about call sign: blackhawk-one for a a huey? operation what? wrong helicopter type, sir!

Haha! That reminds me of an article I read recently:

If you click on the "More Pictures" link below the black & white photo then click through to #8, you'll note the accompanying description below the image labels the chopper as an Apache when it is, in fact, a Black Hawk.

Being overly observant is a curse.

OK, Here's another --- When Bishop is racing to get the Doctor to the hotel to kill that terrorist guy, there are some scenes where the Dr.'s arm is resting out of the side window, then there are several others where the window is rolled up. The photograhpy scenes change quickly, but if you see it again, watch for it.

About the merit badge:

I saw that scene as a 'playing with time', ( as most of the movie does). We see an action, like the tank getting blown up, then we see the picture that Bishop has taken of that tank on the screen. Sort of a here's the action as it happened, and here is the photograph that Bishop took of that action that just happened.

That snippet scene of the battle went by fast -- there was some playing with time in the film. Probably to keep us off balance.

Perhaps film budget did not allow for use of real ammunition.
