Opening scene?

Does anyone know what the gel was (that Bishop put on his hands) and what pills he took in order to survive his electrocution?

Specifically no. I'm guessing its purpose was to block or deter electrical current into his body. I took it as he was faking his electrocution. He popped some pills just prior to presumably slow his heart rate to being undetectable. When they were wheeling him down on the gurney, his partner gave him a shot of... maybe adrenaline? He sure shot upright in a hurry once it took effect.

Just my take on the scene.
