Who played Royce Clayton?
It certainly wasn't Royce in the movie, but nowhere can I find who it was. Anyone got any clues?

shareI was wondering the same thing and waited for the credits to find out, but no luck. However, it seems the answer is found in this thread from an extra in the film.

it was Royce Clayton ho played him they say that in the credit
shareOf all players, why did they use Royce Clayton?
shareThey used Royce Clayton because Jim Morris actually struck him out on four pitches. They used three in the movie because it save one minute of the movie.
shareI don't know much about Royce Clayton, other than that he was a slightly above average player for a few years, but he deserves some credit for adding some realism by reliving a not-great moment.
shareThat was not Royce Clayton.
shareOh yes it was.
Supermodels...spoiled stupid little stick figures mit poofy lips who sink only about zemselves.
According to Clayton's bio it was not him in the movie but Jorge Sanchez.

Nowhere does it say "The Rookie". Case closed.
"Believe me. I tied my own shoes once. It is an overrated experience."
From Trivia:
"Producers contacted Royce Clayton, the first batter Morris faced in the Major Leagues, and got his permission to use his name, etc for the film. It actually took Morris four pitches to strike him out. Clayton managed to hit one foul. But it was too difficult to film a ball going foul, so they left it out."
It was not him. It was Jorge Sanchez. The producers got his permission to use his name, but he did not appear in the movie. It was an actor playing Clayton -- like Quaid playing Morris.
under "self" it shows "the Rookie" and then it shows he played himself.

I played the catcher in the oilfield scene st the beginning of the movie. There were about 50 members of the Austin Metro Baseball League cast as extras. One of them was Jorge Sanchez, an Austin attorney. He played Royce Clayton. Keith Johnson played Rafael Palmiero.
The entire oilfield scene was shot at the Heap Ranch south of Austin in Buda. Everyone in the scene was in the AMBL and over 30 except Coach Mike Gardner from Concordia University. There is also an old town there where they filmed The Newton Boys.
