'Rookie' or 'Rudy'?

Which sports underdog movie based on actual events do you like better? I would have to pick "Rudy."

Naturally, in baseball season it's The Rookie and in football season it's Rudy. In basketball season it's Hoosiers.

And in hockey season it's "Miracle."

i will pick rudy, simply because jim morris had a minor league career and was drafted, so he acually had promise. whereas rudy didnt get any praise, and just worked hard. both great storys tho.

all of them are awesome movies........ sports movies always are amazing

I agree, I don't even like spectator sports, watching other people play games bores me.
But I always check out sports movies and always are highly entertained.

Rudy no doubt, I'm watching it now

I'm not American so I don't know alot about your football or baseball and their heroes, but I always liked Invincible with Mark Wahlberg.

Rudy. It was literally a 'beat the slim odds at every corner' true story as opposed to a 'last minute barely made the majors and you're done'.

The Rookie with Dennis Quaid

I have only seen the Rookie and not Rudy so I can not pick at this point, so I might have to rent Rudy and rewatch The Rookie it has been a while since I have watched the Rookie, and hopefully when I do this I can answer your question better then I can right now.

Rookie > Rudy

Apparently there were some issues with the Rudy story. The film makers took some creative licence. For example, at the end of Rudy it shows him getting a sack all by himself when in reality he was just in on the tackle as a much bigger defensive tackle made the sack. To his credit, they did have it right that the QB was initially running from Rudy. They also made Dan Divine look like a tool when in reality he loved Rudy the same as Parseghian. That said, you can't compare the 2. Rudy was a good story about determination and heart while The Rookie is about recapturing a lost dream. Both are good popcorn flicks.
